Sun City Aliante 55+

Del Webb, 55+, built 2003-2008

Sun City Aliante is Del Webb's 55-and-over community inside the Aliante master plan in North Las Vegas. It opened in 2003, and Del Webb built about 2,000 single-story homes there, selling out in roughly five years. Residents have their own clubhouse, and the public Aliante Golf Club, which opened in December 2003, runs through the community.

Before there was a town, Conrad Kiel ran a ranch here in the late 1800s, near today's Carey Avenue and Losee Road. In 1919 Thomas L. Williams moved his family from Utah onto a 160-acre tract north of Las Vegas. He sank a well, graded roads and sold lots. Hoover Dam workers settled there in the early 1930s, and a town board formed in 1932. The board first picked the name Vegas Verdes, then switched to North Las Vegas a few months later. The city incorporated on May 1, 1946.

The city annexed about 60 square miles of desert in the 1990s. Pardee Homes' Eldorado, opened in the late 1980s, was its first master-planned community. Aliante came out of a federal land auction of about 1,900 acres in May 2001, won by a venture of Del Webb and American Nevada Corp., and opened in May 2003. The Villages at Tule Springs, first planned as part of Park Highlands, broke ground in 2017.

On the north edge of the valley, Congress created Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument on December 19, 2014. Its 22,650 acres hold Ice Age fossils, most famously Columbian mammoths.
